The Storm 2 trawl door

When Vónin set its sights on entering the trawl door market, the company’s design team initiated the process by outlining a set of requirements for a novel door design tailored to the demands of demersal trawlers navigating on tough grounds, and in areas where sea ice is a challenge. The outcome was the Storm design, a robust and powerful trawl door that boasts the capability to be towed with minimal warp.

Now, Vónin presents the Storm 2 trawl doors, which adhere to the same foundational principles as the Storm door but introduce enhancements that elevate their effectiveness and overall performance.

Remarkable stability and impressive spread

Storm 2 doors have already earned a strong reputation for their impressive spreading capabilities and are now utilized in various
fisheries. They are employed by single, twin, and triple-rig trawlers. According to feedback from skippers, Storm 2 doors excel in providing an exceptional spread, even at lower towing speeds used for shrimp fishing. Notably, these doors maintain consistent spreading both in shallow waters and on deeper fishing grounds. Based on the experiences of skippers using Storm 2 doors, their stability is outstanding. They remain upright and keep the gear open even during a full 180° turn, with only minimal spread loss. Even in the event of a tow interruption, the Storm 2 doors quickly regain stability and balance, resuming fishing as soon as the tow is resumed.
