Vónin consolidates presence in Scotland with Mørenot Scotland Takeover

Vónin is pleased to announce the takeover of Mørenot Scotland, which has been renamed Vónin UK Ltd and will trade as Vónin Scotland. This strategic step is a significant boost to our strong presence in the Scottish market.

Last year Vónin in Scotland increased activity significantly. In 2022 , we delivered more cage nets and moorings along with various other equipment to the Scottish aquaculture industry than in previous years.

Large investments in waterbased anti-fouling and coating

Vónin has the last couple of years made large investments in upgrading their aquaculture department at Norðskála with a new production hall, warehouse facility, new offices and a new and larger net washing system.

Akraberg has returned after a successful 40-day voyage with 770 tons of Shrimp ready to be landed in Fuglafjørður. Equipped with Vónin’s shrimp trawls and Storm trawl doors, the crew worked efficiently in Norwegian waters to secure this great catch. FO: Uppsjóvarskipið “Tummas T” hevur gjørt ein skjótan og góðan makreltúr í føroyskum sjógvi við útgerð frá Vónini. “Tummas T” brúkar eitt 1680m Vónin FALCON trol til hendan fiskiskapin, og trolið er sera væl egnað at toga við í vatnskorpuni. Haraftrat hava teir keypt teir sera vælumtóktu Twister lemmarnar við semi-automatiskari stýring. Teir eru 10m2. Sambært skiparanum Virgari Fagraklett hava lemmarnir gjørt sítt til at møguligt er at fáa fisk í trolið so at siga alla tíðina, meðan togað verður.
Hann sigur, at tað gongur væl skjótari at fáa í, tá fiskur er at fáa, í mun til í fjør, tá teir ikki høvdu stýrbarar Twister lemmar. Við at seta eitt fast dýpið á lemmarnar – t.d. 15 metrar – áðrenn skotið verður av, ger at skiparin einans skal hugsa um at raka stiman – lemmarnir skulu nokk halda dýpið!
Tað eru eftirhondini nógv skip, ið hava ognað sær Twister lemmar. Bara seinastu tveir mánaðirnar hevur Vónin leverað fleiri sett í Føroyum, Íslandi, Grønlandi og Norra. EN: The Faroese pelagic trawler ”Tummas T” made a good fishing trip in Faroese waters, catching 1000 tonnes of Mackerel with trawl gear from Vónin. “Tummas T” is using a 1680mts Vónin FALCON trawl for this fishery and the trawl is very suitable for towing in the surface. Additionally, they have also purchased a pair of the very popular Twister trawl doors with semi-automatic steering. The size of the doors is 10m2. Cpt. Virgar Fagraklett mentioned that the Twister doors have made it possible to get fish into the trawl for the entire duration of the tow and that the bag fills up faster when towing through the shoals compared to last year when they didn’t have controllable Twister trawl doors. By setting the desired depth – for example 15 meters – before shooting the doors off, makes it possible for the captain to just make sure that he hits the shoal. The doors will indeed maintain their depth! There are now many ships that have opted for the Twister trawl doors. Vónin varð stovnað í 1969 og er í dag ein av heimsins fremstu trol- og nótaframleiðarum við deildum í Føroyum, Grønlandi, Kanada, Danmark, Norra, Íslandi, Litava og Skotlandi. Í samtakinum starvast umleið 450 fólk. Deild okkara í Fuglafirði stendur fyri framleiðslu og viðlíkahaldi av fiskireiðskapi til uppisjóvarflotan og hevur kundar bæði í Føroyum og uttanlands. Á deildini í Fuglafirði starvast umleið 30 fólk.

EN: The Greenlandic trawler Polar Princess now boasts semi-automatic Twister Smart Doors, joining the growing fleet using this advanced technology. For the last couple of years, Polar Princess has successfully used the manual edition of Twister doors in the Mackerel fishery. They’ve now upgraded their 9m² doors with the semi-automatic module. This upgrade allows them to set the operation depth of their Twister Smart Doors with a WI-FI link directly from the bridge while the doors are hanging at the gallows. Yet Another! The trawler Tummas T, owned by Faroese company Varðin, has chosen to equip their vessel with the semi-automatic Twister Smart Doors.
Having previously used Vónin Tornado trawl doors, the choice was clear when it came to selecting new controllable trawl doors – Vónin Twister was the skippers top pick.
They have already completed their first fishing trip with these innovative doors.
