Great feedback on Vónin mooring systems
The weather and currents in the North Atlantic Ocean are often very harsh and rough. Some years ago Vónin designed its own mooring system for fish farmers to anchor their systems safely to the seabed. One of the most exposed roles in a mooring system of this kind is played by the connection plates, which bind all the ropes together on the corners and down through the middle of the system. Vónin has its own custom-made connection plate for this purpose and it has proven to withstand the extreme conditions that are necessary for fish farming in the North Atlantic.

This connection plate together with the shackles we use are produced from high quality stainless steel. These have proven to have a much higher breaking strength and also to withstand much higher abrasion and corrosion.

We have tested the mooring plate in our own test bench and it broke at 112,8 tonnes where as the galvanized plates broke at 40 tonnes.

The feedback from the fish farmers is also very positive. They say that these connection plates and shackles do not have to be replaced nearly as often as the galvanized solution and do not need to be inspected as often.
