Magnus Fredrik graduates as a netmaker | Yesterday, the 22 year old Magnus Fredrik Joensen got his certificate as a netmaker. For the last 3 years and 3 months he has been a trainee at Vónin. The idea with the education is for the trainee to get a wide and thorough knowledge of the trade of netmaking both theoretical and practical. So, as a trainee, he has spent time at Vónin, the Fishery School and onboard several fishing vessels.
During the first year as a trainee he was full time at the Fishery School having basic subjects.
At his time at Vónin he has worked in all our different productions and has learned how to mend the different types of trawls and seines. Furthermore, he has learned how to design trawls and seines and how to simulate trawls in the Ifremer computer simulator.
Altogether Magnus Fredrik has spent two and a half month at sea. First, onboard the shrimp trawler Arctic Viking, the pelagic vessel Jupiter, the pair trawler Eysturbúgvin and the coast guard vessel Brimil.
Magnus Fredrik says that it has been very interesting and that his favorite part was to design and simulate trawls.
