Norðborg heads for fishing grounds | On tuesday, June 2nd Norðborg KG 689 came to Fuglafjørð to buncker and to pick up their fishing gear at Vónin headquarters. The huge hull made the Vónin buildings look smaller than usual.
Vónin is supplying all the fishing gear for "Norðborg", which includes a purse seine net, a pelagic trawl 2048mtr, a pelagic trawl 2016mtr, two herring codends, two blue whiting codends, two flexi-grid sections, purse seine wire and all the additional accessories. They also have trawls from the company's old vessels - a 2016mtr trawl from Christian í Grótinum and a 1728mtr trawl from the old Norðborg.
All the gear was taken onboard with help from Vónin's brand new lorry.
The crew members were in a very good mood and were excited to try the vessel for the very first time on the fishing grounds.
On the first trip Norðborg will be fishing for Herring. The Herring will be cut to fillets and frozen onboard.
